Opt-In Requirements

Overview

Subscribers must provide explicit consent before receiving SMS, email, or WhatsApp messages through OnPitch. These requirements are set by telecom carriers and global privacy laws.

Types of Opt-In

1. SMS Opt-In

What it is: Consent to receive text messages.

How it works:

  • Fans enter their phone number into your intake form
  • Consent is logged in their subscriber record

Why it matters: Required by carriers for SMS delivery and protects you from penalties.

2. Email Opt-In

How it works:

  • Fans provide their email address during signup
  • They agree to receive updates in compliance with CASL/GDPR
  • Unsubscribe links are included in every email

Why it matters: Builds trust while meeting international privacy standards.

3. WhatsApp Opt-In

What it is: Permission to message fans through WhatsApp.

How it works:

  • Fans select WhatsApp as a preferred channel in your intake form
  • Opt-in is tied to their verified phone number

Troubleshooting

Issue: Subscriber didn’t mean to opt in
Solution: Direct them to unsubscribe; preferences update automatically.
